Fraud is becoming rampant in the education sector. In the last week Indiaforensic reported the fraud in Symbiosis and now the fraud is reported in Barkatullah University. Though the modus operandi differs significantly in both the frauds, indications are that these reported frauds in education sector is just the tip of the iceberg.
Barkatullah University Fraud
Grantham College at Vidisha is affiliated to Barkatullah University. Grantham college runs physical education courses. The college filed a petition in Gwalior bench of high court after the university refused to allow students to write exams on grounds of not following norms under National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for 2011-12.
Seeking respite from the HC, the college presented a list of 50 students to the court. In the interest of students, the court directed the Barkatullah University to allow these students to appear for the exam.
After court’s direction, the college also presented a list of 50 students to the university. While cross-checking this list with one presented before the court by the college, the Barkatullah University detected the fraud.
The fraud involves mismatch in names of students in two lists submitted by the college to Barkatullah University and to the High Court. The university authorities have recommended action against nine students and also the college administration for its complicity in the fraud.
Suspecting fraud, Barkatullah University stopped those students from appearing in the exam.The phyisical education examinations are exempt from the online process of admissions, which leads to the possibilities of different frauds.
